This is Jason Verth, reporting live from Purgatory.
Earlier today, police received several complaints from surrounding residents here in the Glendale Apartments of strange noises coming from one of the units, rented by a factory worker named Charles Fraiser. When the police arrived, what they found was alarming.
Reportedly, all attempts to communicate with the residents were met only with guttural noises and loud banging against the door. What happened next, Police Chief Simon Dolus explains in his press conference.
“Today at approximately 2:25 pm police arrived at the Glendale Apartment complex to investigate strange noises coming from a particular unit. All attempts to communicate with the suspects were unsuccessful, and it was at this time that the officers present chose to proceed into the unit. Our officers were immediately attacked by two suspects, and were shot dead in self defense. Further investigation revealed a deceased individual was also in the unit. No further comment, pending investigation.”
But some residents say that isn’t the whole story — like Aaron Wellick, who happens to live next door to the scene.
“I was like, watchin’ ‘cause I kept hearin’ this loud banging noise over there, like BANG, BANG. I wanted to know what was goin’ on, you know? Then things got real tense for a sec with all the gunshots and all. But what was really freaky was after. Them bags were too small for like, a whole body. Not even like, for a kid. And Mr. Fraiser was a full grown man.”
Other residents also reported sightings of the suspects themselves with what appeared to be blood on their faces — around their mouths in particular.
All attempts to contact Police Chief Dolus for comment were unsuccessful.
